John Aloisi has officially ruled Brisbane Roar out of the running for the signature of Irish star Robbie Keane. The 36-year-old has been linked with a possible move to the A-League following his departure from LA Galaxy but Aloisi, his former teammate at English side Coventry City, confirmed the Roar would not be chasing his services.I said (last week) I hadnt spoken to him. I havent spoken to the owners, but we wont be pursuing him, Aloisi said on Friday.Wed love to - top player, and I think hell be great for the A-League if someone does get him, but we wont be able to get him.The Roars managing director Mark Kingsman claimed last week the club would make the call to Keanes management. It leaves Western Sydney and Melbourne Victory, whose coach Kevin Muscat also played alongside Keane and recently described him as a good friend, as the former Liverpool, Tottenham and Celtic forwards only options if he decides on a move to Australia. Its anticipated Keane would satisfy the criteria to become a guest marquee player, meaning Football Federation Australia could partly subsidise his wages and tthat he would not be counted as one of the five visa players permitted per team.ddddddddddddThe Wanderers are at a very preliminary stage of negotiations with Keane, according to Fairfax Media. However, they face a stiff fight with clubs in China and the Middle East also interested.Meanwhile, Aloisi says he has not met with the management of off-contract striker Jamie Maclaren after a public row over his future broke out last week.Maclarens agent described the Roars offer of a contract extension as disgusting and suggested their pursuit of Keane was an insult to the two-cap Socceroo. It was a tough week for Jamie last week but I felt he dealt with it well, Aloisi said.By the end he focused on the game and he worked hard during the game and this week Ive seen him, it was like a weight lifted off his shoulders, knowing that he can do that.Hes been really sharp at training. Well be speaking ongoing with Jamie and his people but I havent had a meeting with them, no. ' ' '
